We are an established GP Surgery in West Swindon. The position would especially suit an applicant with previous experience in a primary care setting with an interest in maintaining excellent patient relationships. The candidate must have excellent communication skills, and have the ability to work in a pressured environment of a busy practice.The role is for 38 hours per week, working over 5 days (Monday - Friday) - weekends and bank holidays off.The shift pattern will alternate every three weeks between an early week and a later start week, for example:Week 1:Monday - Friday 8:00 - 4:00Week 2:Monday - Friday 8:00 - 4:00Week 3:Monday - Friday: 10:00 - 6:00The occasional 7AM start/6:30PM finish will be required.Main duties of the jobDuties will include, but are not limited:
  • Working on the front desk reception, meeting and greeting patients, arriving them for their appointments, booking following ups etc
  • Answering our busy incoming calls, booking appointments, handling general enquiries
  • Processing new patient registrations
  • Filing patient notes
  • Making outgoing calls, booking follow up appointments
  • Monitoring the practice email account
  • Scanning documents into the patients record

Basic IT skills are important as you will be using computer systems to manage appointments and records. Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work well within a team are essential. Its also important that you understand the need for confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. Flexibility with working hours when needed is required.
Desirable
  • Previous experience in a GP surgery or healthcare setting would be a real advantage, as would some knowledge of NHS procedures and basic medical terminology.
