Hobson Prior is seeking an Engineering Manager to oversee and optimize maintenance and engineering activities at a pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Wales. In this role, you will ensure compliance with industry regulations, maintain high-quality standards, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. This is a key leadership position requiring a proactive approach to managing people, processes, and equipment to support uninterrupted production.Please note that to be considered for this role you must have the right to work in this location.Responsibilities:
  • Manage and improve maintenance and engineering operations to ensure efficiency and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Lead the team in maintaining equipment, commissioning new systems, and supporting manufacturing plans.
  • Ensure the team receives appropriate training and stays updated on industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Production teams to resolve equipment issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Oversee documentation processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement robust maintenance programs and stock management systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Prepare and manage the engineering budget, monitoring expenses and addressing trends.
  • Oversee facilities management, including building maintenance and site improvements.
Key Skills and Requirements:
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or maintenance.
  • Experience in engineering or maintenance within a regulated production environment (e.g., pharmaceuticals, aerospace, automotive, food).
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and engage a team.
  • Excellent communication and project management abilities.
  • Strategic thinker with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
