- Procuring, registering and storing biological samples in line with Engitix SOPs
- Maintaining an accurate, up-to-date biospecimen inventory using LIMS, ensuring full traceability
- Coordinating with project teams to track samples, provide access, and deliver regular inventory updates
- Managing distribution of samples to internal and external stakeholders while safeguarding traceability
- Identifying and resolving sourcing issues in collaboration with project teams
- Implementing continuous improvements to enhance efficiency and quality of biological sample operations
- Maintaining SOPs, quality systems, and best practices for biospecimen handling
- Ensuring compliance with HTA, GDPR, research ethics, and company health & safety standards
- Undertake regular internal bioarchive audits and provide support for external inspections
- Ensuring accurate annotation and metadata capture for all biospecimens
- Collaborate with Data Sciences team to integrate sample data into research pipelines
- Generate reports on biobank utilisation, inventory status, and operational metrics
- Anticipate and align stakeholder needs across programmes, accelerating access to biological samples for impactful research.
- Liaise with tissue sample providers to establish sample sets for programmes and proactively resolve bottlenecks.
- Coordinate sample shipments and manage courier relationships.
- Train and mentor staff to maintain technical excellence and compliance with SOPs and best practices while handling biological specimens.
- Degree in Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Extensive experience in research tissue banking, sample management, and laboratory operations. Industry experience is desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of biospecimen processing and quality assurance practices
- Proven experience working within regulatory frameworks for human biospecimen use (e.g. HTA, GDPR)
- Proficiency with biobank information management systems (e.g., LIMS)
- Ability to effectively manage sample procurement and operational resources
- Practical experience with laboratory techniques involving biological samples is desirable
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills
- Ability to prioritise conflicting demands
- Ability to work across multiple London sites
- Flexible approach to work, can deal with unexpected situations
