Job Description:Capacity Manager| Leicester | 12 month fixed term contract | maternity leave | full timeSpire Leicester Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Capacity Manager to join the team to on an FTC to cover maternity leave.Our vision is to be recognised as a world class healthcare business bringing together the best people who are dedicated to developing excellent clinical environments and delivering the highest quality patient care.What you'll be doingAs Capacity & Utilisation Manager, you'll be responsible for making sure our outpatient clinics, theatres, and consulting rooms are used effectively, ensuring patients can access the care they need in a timely way. Day-to-day, you'll:
  • Oversee capacity and utilisation across the hospital, ensuring consistent support for key service lines.
  • Build strong and effective communication channels with the Patient Support Centre, consultants, medical secretaries, and booking teams.
  • Monitor and review utilisation of theatres and outpatient services, identifying where capacity constraints exist and finding practical solutions.
  • Proactively manage clinic cancellations, list filling, and resource allocation to ensure no opportunity is wasted.
  • Prepare reports and business insights for the senior management team, making evidence-based recommendations to improve performance.
  • Lead and develop a small team, coaching and supporting them to deliver excellence.
  • Work closely with consultants and senior clinicians to align operational efficiency with safe and high-quality patient care.
  • Drive forward new service development, ensuring resources and capacity are in place to support growth.

  • Experience in healthcare, capacity management, or a similar customer-focused environment.
  • A proven track record of managing competing priorities and making decisions quickly.
  • Confidence to challenge when needed and lead difficult conversations in a constructive way.
  • Passion and determination to improve patient throughput and service efficiency.
