Purpose of the jobWe are now recruiting for a Machine and Maintenance Technician to work in a busy contract packing factory.Primary responsibility is supporting the Maintenance Co-ordinator with daily requirements for all the factory lines and site to ensure continuous running of all the machinery to enhance operational efficiency.Following a period of Training and Mentoring, duties will include repairing or replacing defective parts, testing and adjusting equipment, and ensuring that all safety requirements are met.Duties and ResponsibilitiesMain duties:
  • Assisting with the daily setup of all production lines and start-up of all machines.
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance requirements for all machinery and equipment and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Carrying out daily machine guard checks and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Providing help and assistance to Supervisors and Line Leaders in response to breakdowns and faults, and being proactive in this area.
  • Carrying out general site and building maintenance as and when required, and completing enhancements on production lines.
  • Understand how all machinery operates, including tray makers, labellers, can loaders, shrink wrap ovens, date coders, compressors, and cardboard/polythene balers.
  • Ensure that the engineering workshop and store are kept tidy and all tools, stock, and consumables are managed.
  • Ensuring the welfare of yourself and the team around you.
  • Ensuring the Health & Safety regulations are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensuring that company policy (as laid down in the employee handbook) is adhered to at all times.
  • Any other tasks/responsibilities that the company may, from time to time, require you to carry out or assume.
Skills and experience required:Candidate:
  • Must be skilled in working with hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Be able to confidently undertake general maintenance and repairs
  • Ideally have worked in a machinery maintenance, handy person, or caretaker capacity previously, although any experience would be considered
  • Be well presented and personable
  • Be organised and able to work to set daily job targets
  • Have a driving licence
