Key Responsibilities:
Develop and Update existing Communication Strategies:
Create and deliver communication plans for flood risk management initiatives, including public awareness campaigns, community engagement activities, and emergencycommunication.
Develop targeted communication materials for diverse audiences, including residents, businesses, and partner organisations.
Internal Communications:
Ensure effective communication and information sharing within the organisation regarding flood risk management activities.
Prepare and distribute relevant internal briefings and presentations.
Public Engagement and Community Liaison:
Organise and participate in public meetings, workshops, and community events to disseminate information and gather feedback.
Respond to public enquiries and concerns related to flood risk management.
Build and maintain positive relationships with community groups, residents’ associations, and other stakeholders.
Emergency Communications:
Assist in the development and delivery of emergency communication plans during flood events.
Prepare and disseminate timely and accurate information to the public through various channels, including social media, website updates, and media releases.Digital Communications:
Manage and update the organisation’s website and social media platforms with relevant and engaging content.
Develop and implement digital communication campaigns to raise awareness and promote community engagement.
Monitor and analyse digital communication metrics to evaluate effectiveness.Content Creation:
Produce clear and concise content for various communication channels, including websites, social media, leaflets, and presentations.
Create visual content, such as infographics and videos, to enhance communication effectiveness.
Risk Communication:
Translate complex scientific and technical information into accessible and understandable language for the general public.
Deliver risk communication messages in a sensitive and empathetic manner.Essential Criteria applicants must have:Proven experience in a communications role, preferably within the public sector or environmental field.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
Strong understanding of communication principles and techniques, including media relations, public engagement, and digital communications.
Experience in developing and implementing communication strategies and plans.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities, particularly during emergency situations.
Proficiency in using digital communication tools and platforms, including social media, website content management systems, and email marketing software.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholdersAt least two years' experience, gained within the last five years, as a practitioner in public relations, journalism, advertising or a marketing environment.ANDAt least two years' experience, gained within the last five years, of working on your own and with key stakeholders to develop and deliver engaging content to meet organisational needs.A relevant degree or professional qualification in communications, public relations, or a related field.Please send your CV via the link or to Jack.Knox@therecruitmentco.uk
