
Project Controls Lead

- Lead, manage and coach the project controls team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture, providing clear performance expectations, feedback and development opportunities for the team.
- Lead the continuous improvement of project controls operations within the department, including (but not limited to) scheduling, cost estimating and control, resourcing and analysis of project data to provide credible management information to support decision making.
- Lead the application of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) performance standards, preferably to ANSI or APM standards
- Expert knowledge and application of Primavera P6, Deltek COBRA cost management system, and company ERP systems
- Assuring departmental project controls outputs as required
- Ensuring compliance with departmental standards by all projects.
- Support bid activity within the department, ensuring credible plans, estimates and risk profiles are included within proposals provided to potential customers.
- Training, coaching and mentoring of project team members
- Communicating effectively with a range of external and internal stakeholders at all levels and functions
- Significant, demonstrable Project Controls, Planning and/or Cost Management experience in the defence or other regulated industry, managing controls throughout the entire project lifecycle.
- Strong awareness of commercial operations, and/or prime contract experience with, ideally in a SSRO QSC/CAAS reporting environment
- Expert knowledge and application of EVMS processes within an EVM system.
- Expert user of Oracle Primavera P6.
- Significant experience using cost management and finance systems
- A strong disposition for professionally maintaining project-wide adherence and compliance to processes, and procedures, sometimes in the face of adversity
- Providing training and/or mentoring within a cohesive team environment
- Excellent communication (both written/verbal) and listening skills and a demonstrable ability to persuade others, especially influencing senior leadership.
- Professional qualifications in project management or control disciplines and/or membership of a related professional organisation eg MAPM, ChPP, PMP.
- Security level SC UK (UK eyes only – single UK Nationality) required or ability to gain.
