Salary Range: Competitive Salary plus BenefitsOverview:A leading insurer is seeking a commercially minded Property & Liability Underwriter to join their Manchester-based team. In this client-facing role, you'll manage a defined panel of brokers and customers, with responsibility for growing and maintaining a profitable mid-market portfolio. The position requires regular travel across the North West region for face-to-face broker engagement, so flexibility for external meetings is essential.Key Responsibilities:Underwrite multi-class commercial risks within agreed authority and underwriting guidelines.Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and customers through regular face-to-face meetings.Manage business end-to-end, from new business to renewals, with full ownership of your broker panel.Support the delivery of the wider SME strategy through collaborative engagement and market insight.Continuously build knowledge of the commercial insurance market and contribute to growth initiatives.What We're Looking For:Proven experience in property and liability underwriting is essential.Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and develop tailored insurance solutions.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to influence and negotiate with external stakeholders.Ability to work effectively within a large, matrixed organisation.Sound understanding of FCA requirements and regulatory frameworks.Commercial acumen to contribute to business cases and profitability planning.About the Company:A market-leading general insurer with a strong UK presence, known for delivering technical excellence, broker collaboration, and a commitment to customer-centric solutions.
