Housing Solutions Specialist (DATRIG)Salary: Grade 7 (£29,541 - £33,699 per annum pro rata)Location: Muriel Matters House, Hastings (with travel across Hastings & St Leonards)Fixed Term until - 31st March 2026About the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated and proactive Housing Solutions Specialist (Drug and Alcohol Treatment and Improvement Grant) to join our Housing Services team. This role is part of a government-funded initiative aimed at supporting individuals with substance misuse disorders who are at risk of rough sleeping. You will play a vital part in preventing homelessness, helping people access and sustain accommodation, and working closely with partners to improve outcomes for vulnerable residents.Key Responsibilities
  • Prevent homelessness and rough sleeping among those with substance misuse disorders.
  • Work as part of the Housing Options team and develop strong relationships across health, social care, and community sectors.
  • Support people leaving residential placements to secure suitable housing.
  • Engage in assertive outreach to identify and support vulnerable individuals.
  • Liaise with landlords (private and social sector) to secure and sustain tenancies.
  • Provide advice, support, and casework to help service users maintain their accommodation.
  • Carry out risk assessments and support plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Work with landlords to resolve tenancy-related issues and prevent evictions.
About YouWe are looking for someone with:
  • Experience of providing housing advice, assistance, or homelessness prevention services.
  • Knowledge of housing law, tenancy rights, and welfare benefits (Housing Benefit, Universal Credit).
  • An understanding of the barriers faced by people with substance misuse disorders and complex needs.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and work effectively on your own initiative.
  • A flexible, collaborative, and compassionate approach.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and improving the life chances of vulnerable people.
Desirable
  • Experience working directly with clients with multiple and complex needs, including substance misuse.
