Location :Merton Start Date: ASAP Hours: 8:30am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday Salary: £89 - £95 per day (PAYE), depending on experience A forward-thinking secondary school is seeking a resilient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the team full-time from September. This role will focus on supporting students with ADHD and behavioural needs, helping to provide structure, consistency, and positive reinforcement within both classroom and one-to-one settings. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching and pastoral teams to implement behaviour support plans, assist in regulating emotions, and encourage engagement with learning. The ability to build trust and rapport with young people is essential. Desirable skills and experience include: • Previous experience supporting students with ADHD, SEMH, or behavioural challenges • Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and behaviour intervention strategies (e.g. Team Teach, MAPA, or equivalent - desirable but not essential) • Understanding of ADHD presentation in secondary-aged learners • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour calmly and consistently • Ability to implement structure, boundaries, and rewards-based systems • Background in youth work, mentoring, PRUs or alternative provisions is advantageous This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support students in developing emotional resilience, self-regulation, and a positive attitude toward learning.
