We're seeking a Children and Young People's Support Worker to join an excellent service in Argyll and Bute. This role involves providing confidential, trauma-informed support to children and young people affected by domestic abuse. You'll work closely with the Team Leader and other colleagues to offer practical and emotional support, both in our refuge and within the community.About the RoleYour main responsibilities will include:
  • Providing emotional and practical support to children and young people living across Argyll and Bute who have been affected by domestic abuse.
  • Assisting with the admission and resettlement of children and young people in our refuge.
  • Conducting individual and group sessions to support their emotional well-being, resilience, and safety.
  • Helping children and young people understand and express their feelings in a safe environment.
  • Working in partnership with external agencies like schools, social work, and healthcare professionals to advocate on behalf of children and young people.
  • Identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns in line with This client's policies and statutory requirements.
  • Developing and delivering age-appropriate support, activities, and workshops.
  • Supporting parents and carers in understanding the impact of domestic abuse on their children.
This is a temp to perm opportunity, with two options for hours: a35-hour post (salary £27,405) or a 17.5-hour post (£13,702.50), with a job share also being considered. The position is based in Dunoon, Cowal, and Bute.Who We're Looking ForThe ideal candidate will have:
  • Two years' experience providing direct support to children and young people and knowledge of child and adult protection regulations and the impact of domestic abuse. You must have a full driving license and access to a vehicle with business insurance to travel throughout Argyll and Bute. You must also be eligible for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
  • We're looking for someone who is empathetic, non-judgmental, and committed to equal opportunities. You should also have excellent communication and IT skills, a strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
