
Mental Health Solicitor

- Strong knowledge of the Mental Health Act
- Experience in Mental Health law (dual practice in Mental Health and Court of Protection/Health & Welfare is a plus)
- Previous management experience is desirable but not essential
- Meeting clients, taking instructions, and providing expert legal advice
- Drafting tailored applications, documents, and letters
- Negotiating with clients and other professionals
- Conducting research and analysing case law
- Representing clients in Tribunals with in-house advocacy
- Supervising and delegating to trainees, paralegals, and legal secretaries
- Ensuring top-level client care and maintaining high standards of file management
- Keeping up to date with legal developments and undertaking CPD
- Current Practicing Certificate
- Member of the Law Society Mental Health Accreditation Scheme
- Legal Aid Supervisor under the Mental Health Contract
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills
- Strong organisation and time management
- Able to work under pressure in high-stakes, sensitive cases
- Confident, proactive, and able to build relationships with courts, care staff, counsel, and advocacy agencies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
