Pay: £200-£250 per weekWe are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Acocks Green, Birmingham (B27). This part-time morning role is to work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).About the Role:As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the learning and development of a pupil with ASD during the morning sessions. You will:
- Provide tailored 1:1 support during lessons, helping the pupil access the curriculum effectively.
- Break down lesson content into manageable and understandable tasks.
- Monitor and record the pupil's progress, both inside and outside the classroom, to share with the class teacher.
- Recognise and respond to cues when the pupil is becoming overwhelmed, and provide calm, structured time away from the class when needed with the use of Now and Next boards.
- Work closely with the school SENCO to implement strategies and plan the best possible support.
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly ASD.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent relevant qualification).
- A good understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum and the ability to adapt it for children with additional needs.
- Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
- A proactive and flexible approach to working in a school environment.
