An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at Plessey Semiconductors Ltd as a Technical Lead (Phosphide). Working in a small and highly skilled team, this is an exciting role involving the development of state of the art Technology Platforms for the design and production of high efficiency MicroLED products.Main Responsibilities
  • Build state of the art Technology Platforms for the design and production of high efficiency MicroLED products
  • Manage Phosphide Epitaxy Team
  • Align Epitaxial roadmap with short and long term product requirements that contribute to the wider R&D efforts of the business
  • Oversee and ensure accurate analysis, development and testing of new processes, including characterization, process control and quality
  • Work in conjunction with the relevant engineering teams such as Process Engineering and Equipment Tool owners, Characterization and Test, and Shift Engineers to achieve successful outcomes
  • Ensure conformance to all operating procedures such as health and safety, environmental and FAB procedures are implemented to relevant standards
  • Constantly seek out and implement opportunities for innovation and improvement
  • Develop and Mentor Engineers to develop knowledge and skills
  • Ability to maintain high quality standards doing development in a production environment.
Skills/ Qualifications Required
  • At least five years MOCVD Growth experience, preferably in Photonics at a senior/specialist level
  • A proven track record of bringing new technologies to fruition
  • A very good understanding of the engineering challenges relating to the development and manufacture of MicroLEDs across a range of disciplines including; III/V epitaxial growth and device processing
  • Thorough knowledge of the technology landscape and competition
  • High level of optical, thermal and/or electrical simulation skills highly desirable
  • Experience of analogue and power technology would also be beneficial
  • Familiar with gated product development processes
  • Familiar with Failure Analysis, Defect classification and quality tools
  • BSc (required) or higher degree (preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Optical engineering, Physics, Materials Science or a related subject.
