If you hold a graduate visa, you are welcome to apply for this role however it is important to note that UHNM will be unable to offer sponsorship at the end of your graduate visa, you must also have at least six months until your graduate visa expires at the start of your employment for training and operational reasons.Static Band 4 Acute Trauma Unit (ARTU):We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Static Band 4 Senior Therapy Technician post within a faced paced team at UHNM. The post will be based within the Acute Trauma Unit based at the Royal Stoke Hospital Major Trauma Centre. The Acute Trauma unit consists of 17 trauma beds - including 4 level 1 beds. The patients on this ward have come via the major trauma pathway from A&E, critical care, neurosurgery and other trauma wards. The patients have multiple injuries including, traumatic brain injury (TBI), spinal cord injury, rib fractures, orthopaedic limb injuries and may require tracheostomy. Due to the nature of the injuries these patients require a thorough assessment of all systems - MSK, neurological and respiratory.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will work closely with the Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Multidisciplinary team, to ensure patients receive timely interventions and safe supported discharge from hospital.Main duties of the job:The successful applicant will work with Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, providing Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy interventions under the direction of a qualified staff.To work independently but alongside the qualified team in assessing transfers, functional tasks, managing cognitive patients.To be involved in assessing and therapeutic interventions with patients with cognitive difficulties with support from qualified OT when neededBe able to escalate issues with patients if not progressing appropriately to qualified therapists as required.Will be expected to participate in supervising and mentoring rotational therapy technicians.To participate in the training of rotational members of staff as part of the in-service training programmeExpected to maintain splinting and casting stockExpected to manage orthopaedic device stock (ie cricket pad splint)About usThe UHNM NHS Trust covers Royal Stoke Hospital in Stoke on Trent and County Hospital in Stafford.
