- support pupils/children individually or in class or in small groups in identified areas of learning and personal development.
- contribute information to update planning and review process for individual pupils/children.
- supervise pupil/child self-administration of medication. You will offer a high level of personal care which will enable the pupil/child to function to their full potential e.g toileting, administrating medication in line with agreed training procedures and encouraging self- help and independence.
- carry out support programmes designed by visiting specialists e.g speech and language programmes, physiotherapy and/or occupational therapy programmes.
- support pupil/child mobility (as defined by moving and handling training) on an emergency/short-term basis and for low level needs e.g
- You are required to have good levels of interpersonal skills and abilities which will enable you to work as a member of a team to ensure positive outcomes for all children and young people.
- Experience of supporting young people with additional support needs
- Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
- As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration (Early Learning Centres/Primary and Special schools only) and must complete the required Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL) over the registration period 2 National 5's, or 2 Standard Grades General, or 2 O Grades or equivalent (SCQF Level 4 or above)
- For Early Learning Centres/Primary and Special schools only - NC in Early Education and Childcare at SCQF Level 6 or SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 6 or Professional Development Award in Education Support Assistance at SCQF Level 6 or equivalent or, a commitment to achieve in the first period of registration as required by the Employer
