We offer an inclusive and collaborative work environment where employees can thrive and make a meaningful impact.Learn more here about Dematic's Software -Tasks and Qualifications:Key Responsibilities:To perform all controls design activities for delivery of a Dematic customer project from project launch to handover on siteTo perform the role of lead engineer for the controls portion of a Dematic customer project, including leading a team of controls engineers through the controls tasks on the project if requiredTo maintain Dematic’s image as a top quality, professional company, by adopting an honest, professional and attentive approachTo understand the constraints of working on live sites and provide solutions that minimise the disruptions to client operations whilst working within the project scopeTo provide support, attend to system faults and perform investigation and fault rectification where necessaryTo provide 24 hour x 7 day x 52 week emergency remote support cover as part of a pre-arranged rotaTo perform site supervisory duties on projects when requiredTo support the sales team with controls costings and design conceptsRecommending spare partsTo be the lead engineer on projectsTo mentor and support other engineers on projectsTo support the Engineering Manager - Enhancements with project deliveryTo co-ordinate and ensure consistent approach across projects for electrical design, software design and commissioning activitiesTo take responsibility for controls budgets and time constraints on projectsTo produce programmes including design, manufacturing and site activitiesTo hold controls design reviews for relevant projectsTo assist in developing and maintaining departmental procedures and standards, promoting a continuous improvement cultureTo interpret design input information to produce control system designsProduction of all associated documentation including, but not limited to, design calculations, design / safety specifications, operation and maintenance manualsProcurement of electrical equipment including control panels and field devicesLiaising with suppliers on technical mattersProduce ITT’s and liaise with electrical installation supervisors and subcontractorsDesign, production and test of control software for material handling systemsProduction of PLC software, including safety compliant codeTo follow the Version Control processProduction of all associated documentation including, but not limited to Functional Design Specifications, test specifications and commissioning checklistsTo produce databases to facilitate the development of a visualisation systemTo carry out factory acceptance testing of PLC software prior to site deliveryEmulation testing / virtual commissioning of completed PLC software prior to commencing on siteTo assist in development of standard blocks and solutionsTo produce required health and safety documentation including, but not limited to method statements and risk assessmentsTo commission controls systems on site and to provide support to system integration commissioning activitiesTo provide control system training for the end userTo maintain good relationships with all internal and external customers by providing a high quality serviceTo liaise with project sales and project engineers during the project sales phaseTo liaise with project managers, customers and sub-contractors during order execution phaseWhere necessary, develop bespoke and new standard solutions to suit specific projects and new marketsTo innovate wherever possible to improve our delivered product to the end customer (e.g. reduced price, reduced time-scale, improved functionality)To provide technical backup to the service team as required, including bug fixes, enhancements and modificationsTo maintain and improve upon personal skills related to the position, through experience and trainingTo comply with the company policies as defined within the Document Management SystemOther duties as required by the businessQualifications & Experience:Educated to a minimum of HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or related disciplineSeveral years hands-on experience working in a similar role, including controls design and commissioning within an automation based industry, ideally within the automated warehouse industryAdvanced understanding of PLCs (Siemens or Allen Bradley)Advanced understanding of fieldbus systems and I/O equipment, e.g. Profibus, Profinet, ASi, TCP/IPAdvanced understanding of other controls automation related equipment, e.g. Bar code scanners, HMIs, Variable frequency drivesWorking knowledge of relevant standards governing the controls automation industryWorking knowledge of the Machinery Directive and the measures needed for complianceTo be conversant Word, Excel, Project, Outlook.Dematic is proud to provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants.
