Provide technical advice and guidance on wordings related matters at pre-placement, placement and post placement stage of the insurance transaction;
Review, check and, where required, draft (re-draft) policy wordings, clauses, addenda, documents submitted to the Syndicate, whether market standard, carrier or bespoke;
Assist Underwriters with securing formal agreement of wordings; liaising with Brokers if required;
Resolve ad hoc wordings related queries from Underwriters and, where required, Brokers;
Provide comparisons between differing wordings; including where new wordings are published by the AIG Group and/or LMA;
Assist Underwriters with development/drafting of new “Talbot” badged product wordings;
Provide input into the Product Oversight Group (POG), specifically where Product Reviews are required;
Assist with the proactive management/maintenance of the Talbot Wordings Library for all approved policy wordings, clauses and associated documentation;
Establish and maintain good working relationships with Underwriters within the Company (worldwide) and with other Wordings personnel within the wider AIG Group;
Work closely with Legal and Compliance functions on legal and regulatory matters related to wordings;
Attend LMA Wordings Forum or other Market meetings of relevance to the Syndicate and wider Business;
Attend internal or external courses, seminars to generally keep your Technical knowledge and level up to date (e.g. fulfil C.I.I. CPD annual minimal number of hours, 15 hours CPD required for IDD purposes).What you’ll need to succeed
- 3-5 years experience in either a Wordings, Underwriting or Claims role
- Broad insurance knowledge ideally with technical knowledge of multiple products lines or the desire to learn new ones
- Experience of drafting and/or reviewing insurance contracts;
- Knowledge of insurance contracts and the wording and policy process, for both open market and delegated business;
- Good working knowledge of the MRC, construction and content;
- Good understanding of insurance and insurance contract law and regulatory requirements, Lloyd’s Wordings Repository, Lloyd’s Crystal and other regulatory tools
- .Excellent attention to detail; completer/finisher;
- Ability to discuss and explain contractual language to various audiences/stakeholders including brokers, underwriters and trainees;
- Ability to learn in order to turn insurance coverage requirements into clear, unambiguous and accurate written wording/policy documentation, whilst complying with regulatory requirements;
- Knowledge of and competency with using the Lloyd’s Wordings Repository (LWR) market database.
