Residential Child Care Officer Location: Birmingham Birmingham Children's Trust is dedicated to making Birmingham the greatest city to grow up in. We are looking for a Senior Residential Child Care Officer (SRCCO) to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality day-to-day care for children and young people living in our residential homes. You will act as a corporate parent, ensuring children's needs are met, their rights are respected, and their voices are heard. What you'll be doing: Supporting the Registered Manager with the smooth running of the home. Acting as a key worker for children and young people, advocating for them and supporting their education, health, and wellbeing. Helping to formulate and deliver Care Plans, Placement Plans and Pathway Plans. Providing a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment where children can thrive. Leading shifts and supervising staff (after 12 months' experience). Promoting independence and preparing young people for adulthood. Maintaining high standards of care in line with legislation, regulations, and safeguarding procedures. What we're looking for: Experience working with children, young people, and families in a professional or voluntary setting. Ability to support children with emotional, behavioural, or additional needs. Understanding of safeguarding, children's rights, and relevant legislation. Strong communication and report-writing skills. Commitment to equality, inclusion, and promoting positive outcomes. Willingness to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and occasional overnight stays during holiday activities. A QCF Level 3 in Children & Families (or willingness to complete within 6 months of employment).
