Working Hours:Monday to Thursday: 08:00 – 16:00 Friday: 08:00 – 15:30Salary: Grade 13 FTE £25,989 – £28,142 Actual £21,685 – £23,481Prospero Teaching is working closely with a secondary school in Taunton who are seeking a committed and proactive School Engagement Officer to join their Student Services team. This is a student-facing role focused on safeguarding, attendance, and engagement.Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development and implementation of attendance strategies, including home visits and liaison with families
- Lead individual and group interventions to improve student attendance and punctuality
- Prioritise support for disadvantaged students and those with persistent absence
- Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, maintaining high standards of safeguarding practice
- Collaborate with teaching, pastoral, and external teams to support student welfare
- Monitor attendance data, complete statutory returns, and maintain accurate records
- Promote positive attitudes toward learning, behaviour, and attendance
- Uphold school policies including safeguarding, health & safety, and data protection
- Experience working with young people in education, youth work, or social care
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and attendance legislation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
