This is an exciting locum opportunity offering a minimum six-month contract, where you will work in one of the UK’s most scenic and supportive communities. Enjoy the perfect balance of on-site engagement and remote working, with three weeks on the island followed by one week working from home each month.Perks and Benefits:Hybrid Working Model: Work three weeks in beautiful Orkney and enjoy one week from home every month.Relocation Support: Orkney Islands Council will cover:Rent allowance up to £600/monthCouncil taxTravel to/from Orkney at the beginning and end of your contractOne return trip home per month if you’re living outside OrkneyWork-Life Balance: Full-time hours (Monday to Friday, 9 am – 5 pm) with built-in flexibility and time for rest and exploration.Idyllic Living: Live and work amidst stunning coastal landscapes, a vibrant island community, and a slower pace of life.Your Key Responsibilities:Deliver high-quality, child-focused social work services within statutory guidelines.Carry out comprehensive assessments of children and families, producing detailed and effective care and intervention plans.Work collaboratively with multi-agency teams to provide coordinated support and safeguarding.Maintain accurate case records and prepare reports in line with legal and policy requirements.Attend and contribute to case conferences, court proceedings, and planning meetings.Support the continued development of services and represent Orkney Islands Council with professionalism and empathy.Candidate Requirements:Qualified Social Worker with registration with Social Work England (SWE) or equivalent.Experience within a Children & Families statutory setting.Ability to work independently while being an active member of a team.Strong communication, assessment, and safeguarding skills.Why Choose Orkney?Orkney is more than a work destination—it’s a lifestyle choice.
