We also support flexible and hybrid working - if it works, we'll make it happen. .Brief DescriptionThe North West Route Geotech Asset Management team is responsible for the stewardship of the earthwork asset portfolio; which comprises circa. 21,000 soil cuttings, embankments and rock cuttings, management of legacy and active mining risk to the network and providing expert knowledge on geotechnical issues to the wider route.In this role you will be working in a dynamic and empowered team to provide geotechnical engineering support to manage the performance and condition of geotechnical assets (soil cuttings, embankments and rock cuttings) across the North West route. You will be supported in the role to take responsibility of managing the risk posed by earthworks assets, supporting the development and construction of planned remedial schemes, undertaking inspection and evaluation of earthwork assets, as well as defining and implementing risk mitigations in accordance with asset policy.About the role (External)Every day will be different, but you can expect to be involved in the following activities:In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have/to be:· HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Geology or an equivalent relevant subject· Working towards membership of a relevant professional institution· An understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques· Holds valid UK driving licence, or eligible and willing to obtainWe would also like but it isn't crucial to have/to be:· Degree in Civil Engineering, Geology or an equivalent relevant subject· Personal Track Safety (PTS)· Incorporated or Chartered Engineer· Understanding and experience of railway infrastructure maintenanceHow to apply (External)We are a Disability Confident Leader and want to make the most of the skills and talents disabled people bring to the workplace - skills and talents we need in our businessSalary and benefits:
  • Salary: Band 4C starting at £43,588 and increasing to £51,719
