They maintain a focus on developing their systems before expanding their workload, and this is demonstrated as they own their own building, their own plant, their own formwork and much more. That is something I truly respect.ABOUT THE ROLEThis is a lead role, heading up a preconstruction / estimating department within a modern concrete structures and groundwork business. You will have a direct working relationship with the MD and all the senior management team, and you will have the autonomy to run and develop your own department as you see fit.Career opportunities like this don't come along very often.Initially, you will need to be hands-on, still pricing and taking tenders all the way through from enquiry, so this may suit a Senior Estimator who is looking to step forward. But you will also have the ability to grow and develop your own team from day one, so leadership skills will be required (hence the title and opportunity to be a shareholder).So, we need someone capable of pricing a variety of concrete structures and groundwork packages on major civil engineering schemes, for a £20 million turnover concrete & groundwork contractor. But that someone should see this opportunity as a chance to take a lead role with a percentage of ownership, so your success will benefit you as well as the owners.REQUIREMENTSSuitable applicants will have worked in the concrete structures and groundwork sector for a number of years. You should be involved with tending and producing estimates while also handling preconstruction meetings for these types of work with packages ranging anywhere from £500,000 up to £10,000,000 each or above.
