This is a hybrid working position.The purpose of the role is to lead, oversee and manage the quality management systems, governance and regulatory affairs of Eurofins Clinical Diagnostics UK.You will act as Clinical Governance Co-ordinator and the UKAS standards co-ordinator, working closely with Senior Management and the UK Clinical Diagnostics Medical Director.
  • Develop and maintain the quality system for Eurofins Clinical Diagnostics UK.
  • Ensure that all systems and components are in place as required by UKAS.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication on quality issues and to write policies and procedures.
  • Introduce and manage the QPulse quality management system and ensure other databases and software systems are validated.
  • Liaise with the customers, relevant agencies and companies regarding quality issues and risk management issues.
  • Ensure that audits are performed.
  • Support the departments in maintaining accreditation.
  • Work with the designated CQC designated representative.
  • Ensure internal and external quality assessment specimens are processed and reported accurately according to SOPs.
  • Review and develop working practices and SOPs.
  • Ensure compliance with HCPC standards, Clinical Governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Support and advise the laboratory management service team on service improvements.
  • Work closely with the Chair of the Diagnostics Clinical Governance
  • Committee and to support this function as the Clinical Governance Coordinator.
  • Manage risk assessments and maintain the risk register.
  • Ensure that adverse incidents are reported, recorded and appropriate actions taken including, where necessary, changes in standard operating procedures.
  • Advise on health and safety matters.
  • Develop and maintain a quality management training program.
  • Develop and deliver induction and refresher training as appropriate in specialist areas.
Qualifications
  • Educated to MSc or equivalent
  • Higher specialist certificate (IBMS)
  • Willingness to continue the learning process through academic practical experience
  • Proven experience within postgraduate practical, technical and theoretical experience in Medical Microbiology and Medical Laboratory Sciences
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in quality management, gained both by qualifications and lengthy experience.
  • In depth working knowledge and competency in laboratory bench areas, as appropriate.
  • Sound knowledge of common IT programmes and excellent keyboard and IT skills
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)
  • Working knowledge of Laboratory Health & Safety arrangements
  • Evidence of using technical experience to assess new and existing systems and processes to initiate change in laboratory practice
  • Experience of critically assessing current ways of working and introducing efficient and cost-effective practices
  • Experience and understanding of planning and project management
  • Understanding and experience of using Q pulse software
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and as an individual
  • Highly developed initiative skills
  • Articulate and clear thinking
  • Good problem solving skills
