
Group Clinical Director of Plastic Surgery

- The post is paid at £125 per hour, with opportunity for additional hours only by mutual agreement based on operational requirements.
- The minimum 4 hours must be accessible and predictable, and will be monitored to ensure fulfilment of the role’s strategic and governance responsibilities.
- MDT structures support standardisation of care across reconstructive and aesthetic pathways.
- MDT membership includes surgeons, nurse specialists, anaesthetists, psychologists, and allied health professionals where appropriate.
- Pathways reflect national guidance (e.g., BAPRAS, BOA, NICE) and cover skin cancer reconstruction, trauma, hand surgery, burns, and elective/aesthetic procedures.
- Provide clinical governance and oversight within Plastic Surgery, ensuring standards of practice across elective and reconstructive surgery.
- Support service development for trauma, skin lesion excision/reconstruction, hand surgery, burns aftercare, and aesthetic services where applicable.
- Provide specialist input into inclusion/exclusion criteria, clinical standards, and perioperative safety initiatives.
- Oversee audits, surgical outcomes data, complaints reviews, and quality improvement.
- Work closely with operational and business development teams to drive new surgical service models and innovations.
- GMC-registered clinician with proven expertise in Plastic Surgery.
- Experience of MDTs in plastic/reconstructive pathways.
- Track record in clinical governance, pathway development, and surgical outcomes improvement.
- Independent sector leadership experience.
- Experience working with NHS commissioners around plastic surgery service provision.
