Slough Borough Council - Temporary Accommodation ManagerAre you a Temporary Accommodation Manager looking for your next role?Slough Borough Council are looking to recruit a Temporary Accommodation Manager to join their team on a contract basis!Key ResponsibilitiesService DeliveryManage the day-to-day operation of the Council's temporary accommodation portfolio, including leased, purchased, and private sector provision.Ensure placements are safe, suitable, and compliant with statutory requirements, including health & safety, safeguarding, and housing standards.Oversee move-ins, transfers, and move-outs, minimising void periods and ensuring smooth transitions into permanent housing.Financial & Contract ManagementMonitor budgets, rent collection, and housing benefit claims relating to temporary accommodation.Procure and manage contracts with providers, landlords, and agents, ensuring value for money and compliance with procurement policies.Regularly review and negotiate rental charges to control costs and reduce reliance on expensive nightly-paid accommodation.Performance & ComplianceMaintain accurate records and management information systems to track usage, costs, and outcomes.Produce regular performance reports for senior management and elected members.Keep up to date with housing legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice, ensuring the Council meets its legal duties.Partnership WorkingWork with internal teams (e.g. Housing Options, Allocations, Finance, Legal, Property Services) and external stakeholders (landlords, housing associations, support providers) to improve service delivery.Build strong relationships with private landlords and letting agents to increase accommodation supply.Person SpecificationEssential:Proven experience managing temporary accommodation, housing services, or a related area.Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation (Housing Act 1996 Part VII, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017) and statutory guidance.Experience of managing staff and budgets in a housing or local authority setting.Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and commitment to protecting vulnerable residents.Morgan Hunt is a multi-award-winning recruitment business for interim, contract and temporary recruitment and acts as an Employment Agency in relation to permanent vacancies.
