- To liaise with clinicians responsible for major trauma patients, in order to identify changes in rehabilitation needs.
- Inform Operational Manager of any build-up of patients awaiting Trauma Rehabilitation.
- Liaise with the major trauma centres regarding referred patients.
- Liaise with families of major trauma patients, with regards to rehabilitation.
- Promote clinical excellence in the care of patients along the major trauma pathway, providing expert professional, and clinical support and advice, to the multi professional team along the pathway, enabling the coordination of a multi professional seamless service for major trauma patients.
- Provide strong clinical leadership skills, energising the multi professional team in pursuit of a shared vision, to ensure the effectiveness and safe delivery of care to patients, along the major trauma pathway, with a particular focus on rehabilitation.
- To support acute wards in the management of major trauma patients, especially in those aspects that will reduce complications, and enhance rehabilitation, such as positioning and behavioural management.
- To ensure that Neurological Rehabilitation Services in Derby, are engaged in relevant research projects/ clinical trials, and implement and evaluate new and innovative clinically effective treatment techniques in order to establish Derby as a centre of excellence.

- Evidence of degree/working towards higher degree or equivalent experience
- Advanced Trauma Nursing Skills (ATNC)
- Takes responsibility and is accountable for all delegated nursing care within the MDT
- Manages the clinical workload, prioritising and re-prioritising
- Demonstrable understanding of clinical governance
- Able to assesses associated risks and takes appropriate action
- Evidence of management/leadership skills gained through theoretical knowledge and or experience
- Provide a level of advanced and comprehensive rehabilitation assessment based on specialist knowledge and experience.
- Able to manage /advise about the care and rehabilitation of polytrauma, spinal injuries including manual handling of these patients within the trust and in the community.
