
Senior Accountant, Inventory - 12 month FTC

- Supporting Finance Manager to service functional and entity specific shared service requirements
- Delivering the agreed services now and in the future like GRIR, IC clearing, budgeting, business partner, supporting with projects, etc.
- Managing the various internal and external stakeholders (e.g. Commercial Finance, Group Finance, Central Planning, IT, Internal/External Audit, Project teams) and accompanying change management programmes to oversee successful service delivery
- End-to-end solution and performance of an integrated set of accounting processes
- Production of key reports and outputs to support the decision making process
- Serve as escalation for customer complaints, service failures or adherence issues
- Responding to a significant number of ad hoc queries, and analysis as required, prioritising work effectively to ensure that these queries are responded to on a timely basis
- Working closely with the process owners and team leads to understand root causes of issues raised and represent process, procedures, practicalities and exceptions
- Ensuring compliance with the Group Policies, including operating of internal controls over financial reporting
- Working with FP&A and commercial finance teams on key judgements including taking ownership for robust forecasting process
- Facilitate ad hoc inventory projects
- Supporting the design, development, embedding and documentation of various inventory processes
- Staying abreast of best practice Inventory Accounting concepts, technology and methodologies and ensuring these are implemented at Burberry to the extent possible
- Seeking and acting upon feedback from stakeholders as well as the delivery team to help inform future delivery of services
- Providing support to the RTR and other function with “build and design” of the process for any changes recommended by the broader business
- Professional accounting qualification/finalist (ACA/CA/ACCA/CIMA)
- Experience in a commercial environment, ideally with an international view
- Can operate both at the tactical and, where required, detailed level. Thinks conceptually and identifies and addresses future challenges and opportunities, often in an ambiguous environment
- Good Microsoft Excel knowledge
- Uses a variety of techniques to influence a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders across a range of operational issues
- Able to establish personal credibility at all levels
- Builds effective relationships through interpersonal skill and technical expertise to aid cross-functional working, delivery and sense of collaboration and teamwork
- Displays an affinity for technology’s ability to drive efficiencies and enhance service delivery
- Can provide evidence of working collaboratively with peers and other levels of the organisation to achieve desired outcomes
- Requires good understanding of IT systems and processes – SAP training is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills especially stakeholder management
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities and operational demands
