  • Registered Healthcare practitioner with valid UK Registration (NMC / HCPC)
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Masters Level
  • Post graduate* expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality.
  • Advanced Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality.
  • Evidence of application of advanced practice skills in speciality and applying clinical judgement.
  • Evidence of further developed knowledge and experience in management and/or leadership.
  • Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
  • The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate and influence others and work using own initiative
  • Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills and effective time management skills
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology

  • Accredited Acute Oncology Course / Module
  • Advanced Clinical Assessment & Decision Making Qualification
  • Accredited SACT course / module
  • SACT WoSCAN NMP Framework Competencies Level 2
  • Advanced Communication Skills Qualification
  • Current ALS qualification
  • Completion of NHSL Advanced Practice Competency Framework or equivalent.
  • Commitment to lifelong learning and personal development plan
  • Significant comprehensive post registration experience within acute oncology setting, some of which must be at senior practitioner level
  • Experience as a CNS / ANP in Cancer of Unknown Primary (CUP)
  • Experience of nurse-led clinics
  • Experience of telephone assessment using UKONS triage tool
  • Research and audit knowledge or experience
  • Able to demonstarate a high level of knowledge of cancer disorders, treatment and potential side effects of these
  • Experience of leading and or managing a team of CNS / ANP
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Scottish Leadership Framework
  • Knowledge and understanding of CEL30 and its application to Acute Oncology
  • Knowledge and understanding of the CUP pathway of care
  • Evidence of advanced clinical assessment & examination skills in oncology / acute oncology
  • Current competence in venepuncture & cannulation & CVAD
  • Current competence in SACT administration
  • Evidence of advanced communication skills in relation to complex / challenging conversations in oncology
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as in collaboration with other health care professionals
  • Ability to participate in the delivery of presentations and teaching sessions
  • Evidence of well-established written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt and work flexibly as situations and service demands
