Job descriptionAbout the Role:We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join a vibrant secondary school in Rotherham on a full-time basis for the Autumn Term 2025. This is a temporary position to cover a planned absence, with the potential for extension depending on school needs.The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective English lessons to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, fostering a love for literature and language, and supporting students in achieving their academic goals.Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, including preparation for GCSE examinations.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and enthusiasm.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the English department and across the school to support curriculum development and enrichment activities.
  • Participate in parent evenings, staff meetings, and professional development sessions.
  • Uphold the school’s values, policies, and safeguarding procedures.
Person Specification:Essential:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Degree in English or a related subject.
  • Proven experience teaching English at secondary level.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Commitment to student achievement and well-being.
Desirable:
  • Experience teaching GCSE English Language and Literature.
  • Familiarity with current educational practices and assessment frameworks.
  • Ability to contribute to extracurricular activities or literacy initiatives.
