Non-Executive Director - Finance & Remuneration
We are looking for someone with the following experience / knowledge (we are not expecting applicants to have experience in all areas):
  • Finance or auditing experience.
  • An understanding of small businesses (ideally with knowledge / experience of CIC's or Charities
  • Experience of budget setting and finance reporting
  • Knowledge on finance systems such as Xero (we are keen to move an electronic system)
  • Experience on gaining grant / external funding.
  • Passionate about making a difference to local young people and a local business.
Key responsibilities
  • To Lead the Finance & Remuneration Subgroup
  • To support CEO & Admin & Finance Manager with annual pay reviews and salary increases
  • Support CEO & Admin & Finance Manager with reviewing the budget, financial and payroll procedures.
  • To be a board on financial decision before being submitted to the board (eg use of money in the bank)
  • Agreement on high spend (amount to be reviewed by board)
  • Agreement on any additional salary payment to the CEO
Experience of working on a board, committee, or governing body along with the ability to forge strong partnerships / relationships would be beneficial and all applicants must be willing and able to travel to Boldmere (Sutton Coldfield) for board meetings (although some maybe virtual).We are looking for the following commitment from newly appointed Directors:-- Meet a minimum of 3 times a year for board meetings (once a term). Most Board Meetings will be after 5pm (due to some board members working in a school). If holiday periods are suitable for board members, meetings may take place during the day.
- Ability to offer additional support to the Chief Executive Officer (networking, business development, marketing, growth, and VIP events).
-- Attend additional subgroup meeting if required - these meetings will be during the working day (staff engagement, inclusion & diversity, wellbeing).
-- This is a voluntary position, but reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.
