Are you an experienced Pre Treatment radiographer looking for a new challenge? We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals for two full-time permanent positions within the Pre Treatment Planning group at our Canterbury site.Kent Oncology Centre currently has nine Varian linear accelerators across the two sites each with dedicated CT-Simulators. We have Eclipse for treatment planning with RapidArc VMAT, IGRT, vDIBH and SABR Lung in routine use. This is an exciting time to join our team as we embark on a programme of SABR expansion and further expand the use of Eclipse as our principle Treatment Planning System. We are about to replace our CT at Canterbury with a Philips BigBore RT CT.Depending on skills and experience we would consider appointing at a lower band and would provide development milestones. We also consider flexible working with the expectation of supporting the working hours of service.Main duties of the jobAs a Treatment Planning CT Lead Radiographer you will lead and participate in all aspects of the pre-treatment section: participating in CT simulation, including cannulation and contrast, production of immobilisation, organs-at-risk.Depending on your own particular skills and interests and the future requirements of the service we will actively encourage and support you to develop your role through postgraduate training and role extension.About usMaidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust ranks among the top 10 NHS Trusts nationwide and was named the second-best Trust to work for in the South East in the 2023 and 2024 NHS Staff Survey.We are a large acute hospital trust in south-east England, providing general hospital services and specialist care to around 600,000 residents in West Kent and East Sussex.   • BSc (Therapeutic Radiography), DCR (T) or equivalent and HCPC registration as a therapeutic radiographer
Desirable
  • Masters level training in relevant specialist area
Experience/KnowledgeEssential
  • Significant post qualification experience. Relevant post qualification experience in pre-treatment
  • Specialist knowledge of pre-treatment patient positioning, immobilisation and imaging for Treatment Planning purposes.
  • Demonstration of participation in CPD
  • In depth understanding of the risks arising from equipment failure and treatment planning areas.
  • In depth knowledge of relevant legislation (IRR and IR(ME)R) Act as a Practitioner, Operator and Referrer under the terms of IR(ME)R
Desirable
  • Experience using Virtual Simulation software
  • Experience using Treatment Planning systems for Contouring
SkillsEssential
  • Basic computer skills including the use of Word, Excel and Windows applications.
  • Able to communicate highly complex instructions clearly and unambiguously within a multidisciplinary team both verbally and in writing

  • Understanding of hazards posed by, and precautions needed with Ionising Radiation
  • Able to exercise own initiative when dealing with issues within own area of competence
