If you share a passion for performance, value a collegial and collaborative culture, and approach everything with the highest integrity, here's an opportunity for you to invest your career at CPP Investments.Job DescriptionBased in London or Toronto, the Associate/Senior Associate will be responsible for conducting corporate credit research and evaluating trading opportunities in Emerging Markets, sourcing opportunities, trading and monitoring (via generation of portfolio metrics, risk and performance analytics) the portfolio based on specific public credit strategies (e.g., corporate bonds, credit ETFs, structured finance and credit derivatives). The Public Credit group's focus is on the development and management of scalable alpha strategies. This role offers an exciting combination of unparalleled learning opportunities, overseeing the entire lifecycle of an investment, with a direct path to trading and portfolio management responsibilities.Role-specific Accountabilities:Reporting to the Managing Director - Public Credit, this position is primarily responsible for researching and investigating, building, and implementing a wide range of trading strategies for alpha mandates within Public Credit. Major areas of responsibilities include:
  • Helping to grow Public Credit group's presence in Emerging Markets, including building relationships with key counterparts in the region
  • Using experience and market knowledge to provide guidance and assist in the development of the appropriate investment platform and strategies in the region
  • Identifying and researching new investment opportunities within the asset class: build financial and trading models, perform due diligence on industries/companies and conduct macro analysis
  • Performing fundamental credit research and discussing research ideas with the broader group
  • Participate in the preparation and implementation of investment recommendations and strategies, and development of tools to trade Credit Relative Value strategies based on fundamental and market-based research across multiple products
  • Part of team responsible for pricing, trading and managing risk associated with various Public Credit strategies (e.g., corporate bonds & ETFs, structured finance, credit derivatives)
General accountabilities include working as part of the Public Credit group to optimize and implement strategies related to alpha generationQualifications
  • Commensurate credit research/investment experience, preferably with a Master's degree in Business or Mathematical Finance. A quantitative undergraduate degree (e.g. Math, Engineering, Computer Science) would be an added benefit
  • Some track record of managing risk, conducting research, or providing analysis in the implementation and monitoring of Credit RV strategies
  • Fluency in Portuguese or Spanish would be advantageous
  • Good knowledge of fixed income, credit, and finance, as well as strong analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with good verbal and written communication capabilities
  • Demonstrated good judgment, professionalism, and integrity
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a high performing culture, under pressure and with time-sensitive deadlines
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as perform effectively in a team-oriented environment
