Work Mode: Hybrid/Remote flexibility with 24x7 rotational supportSummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled infrastructure leader with extensive experience across VMware, Microsoft, and Linux ecosystems. This role blends deep technical expertise with operational leadership, supporting enterprise-grade virtualization, cloud, and server platforms. You’ll manage complex incidents, drive automation, and ensure platform resilience across hybrid environments.The successful candidate must be a sole UK national and hold or be eligible for high-level UK government security clearance (DV). Please note we can consider candidates from both Erskine or Newcastle locations.Essential Job Functions
- Provide expert technical support in infrastructure services, responding to complex issues and inquiries
- Deliver L3 support for VMware environments: vSphere, vSAN, NSX-T/V, VCF, Tanzu Kubernetes Grid
- Administer Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) and troubleshoot OS-level issues, containers, and automation
- Troubleshoot Microsoft platforms including Azure, SCCM/Intune, SQL Server, Active Directory, and Windows Server
- Support VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) and Aria Suite tools (vRealize Operations, Automation, Log Insight)
- Assist in the implementation of infrastructure projects and initiatives, executing assigned tasks
- Continuously monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure systems, ensuring optimal performance
- Collaborate with the team to improve infrastructure efficiency and resolve technical challenges
- Participate in the development of infrastructure documentation, including incident reports and configuration details
- Apply deep technical knowledge and critical thinking to address complex infrastructure-related problems
- Follow established best practices and standards in infrastructure service delivery
- Coordinate with vendors (e.g., Microsoft) and internal stakeholders to meet SLA targets and minimize escalations
- Participate in rotational 24x7 support and weekend standby for critical issues
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Typically 5+ years of relevant work experience, with at least 2 years in a similar role
- Proven experience in infrastructure technology analysis
- Proficiencies in data analysis and problem-solving
- A continuous learner who stays abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies
- Advanced degree in a relevant field
- Certifications such as Cisco CCNA, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CompTIA Security+, VMware VCP, Microsoft Expert, or RHCE
- Experience in secure environments or government contracts
- Must hold or be eligible for high-level UK government security clearance
