We are currently recruiting for a Principal Investigator. Our team includes world-class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Kingston, Ontario.We are seeking a Principal Investigator with a Doctorate in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field, along with a strong research record and a desire to lead innovative research projects. This position involves oversight of groundbreaking research initiatives, technology development, and facilitating collaboration within multi-disciplinary teams to advance our strategic goals at the client's Kingston Research Facility.Responsibilities:As a Principal Investigator, you will:
- Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary research team through all stages of project development, from idea conception to technology transfer and commercialization.
- Design, execute, and analyze experiments to investigate and develop new product formulations and processes.
- Employ data science techniques, including statistical analysis, machine learning, and modeling, to enhance research outcomes and improve process efficiencies.
- Investigate structure-property relationships in polymers to develop innovative materials that meet specific performance criteria.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across various disciplines and maintain open communication to address technical challenges effectively.
- Author and review technical documentation, including patents, reports, and publications, contributing to the client's body of research.
- Drive innovation in material processing methods and techniques, employing both experimental and modeling approaches.
Technical and Industry Experience:
- The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, an extensive educational background in chemistry/chemical engineering, and the ability to cultivate a collaborative environment. Flexibility and adaptability are essential as projects evolve and new opportunities arise.
- Proven track record of high-impact research, including publications in peer-reviewed journals and contributions to patents.
- Demonstrated experience in chemical process development, scale-up, and optimization, with competencies in data science and statistical analysis.
- Strong expertise in data science techniques, including data analysis, statistical modeling, and the use of software such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, necessary for effective teamwork and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience mentoring junior researchers or staff.
- Familiarity with advanced process control technologies, modeling software and data science.
- A results-oriented mentality with an emphasis on sustainability and commercialization of technology.
- Knowledge of ISO quality assurance standards and relevant safety procedures.
- Experience in integrating data science with experimental design to predict outcomes, and optimize processes.
Required:
- Ph.D.in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with substantial experience in leading research and development projects.
- Additional certifications in leadership or management-related fields may be regarded favorably.
