
Technical Property Accountant

- Lead and contribute to team projects, including clearance of legacy balances.
- Support with the financial operations and reporting requirements for specified portfolios (these are likely to require technical accounting input, and/or be more high profile or more complex instructions). Review of nominal ledger reconciliations and journals, payments to client and ensuring client deadlines and expectations are met.
- Learn and be able to undertake all duties performed within the Senior Property Accountant and Property Accountant roles and provide technical accounting support to these individuals, and ad hoc cover of portfolios.
- Assist with insurance renewal management across portfolios and undertake reconciliations where required.
- Identify and implement improvements to standardise, streamline and simplify working procedures.
- Administer financial operations relating to the mobilisation and demobilisation of property transactions.
- Perform any other accounting and administrative duties as needed in support of the property portfolio.
- Assist the Property Accounts Director and Property Accounts Managers with the training, retention, and motivation of the team to develop commitment and drive high performance.
- Provide hands-on technical support to team members on transition related activities.
- Work with the Training Manager to deliver group training sessions across Financial Management.
- Support senior management in creating an industry leading Property Accounting team, which is considered a ‘Centre of Excellence’ both internally and externally.
- Monitoring of key performance indicators on client portfolios and taking ownership for timely resolution of any issue alongside relevant stakeholders.
- Effectively manage risk by complying with company, accounting, and legislative procedures and controls. Identify problem areas and escalate issues promptly.
- Performance of other controls as governed by our accredited control framework.
- Support with all internal and external auditing requirements.
- Be a point of contact for specific client and team projects.
- Liaise with and support Surveyors, JBS (JLL Business Services) finance teams and other stakeholders on the portfolios, acting on requests and providing information in a timely manner.
- Attend and lead on internal and external meetings as required.
- Ensure strong communication links and working relationships are established and maintained with Property Accounts management, as well as Accounts Receivable, Treasury & Control, Surveying, and other internal stakeholders.
- Strong Excel skills (including working knowledge of pivot tables, V-Lookups, X-Lookups and other similar formulae). • Working knowledge of MS Office (including Word, Power Point, Outlook, Teams etc.)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team.
- Must be flexible and able to work under pressure, multi-task and effectively prioritise.
- Organised, with attention to detail and able to work to tight deadlines.
- Ability to manage and develop strong client relationships and provide excellent client service.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Advanced knowledge of property accounts and VAT accounting.
- ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualified (or equivalent) with 4 years of accounting experience, or QBE (5 years in an accounting function).
- 2 years’ property accounting experience.
- Knowledge of Client Systems (Yardi/MRI/Horizon) would be advantageous.
