The role ensures that product quality meets both internal specifications and customer requirements, and handles customer complaints through recognised root cause methodologies. The Quality Manager drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.Quality Assurance Manager Duties and Responsibilities:Manage and maintain the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and ensure continuous complianceSupervise and develop the Quality Control Laboratory team to ensure accurate, reliable, and timely test resultsLead internal and external quality audits, ensuring all findings are addressedInvestigate customer complaints using root cause tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, 8D and FMEAResponsible for investigating product failures, performing root cause analysis and deciding courses of action to be taken with failed material - e.g. return to supplier, seek concession, rework, re-assign use or scrapImplement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) and monitor their effectivenessTrack and report quality KPIs to senior managementAnalyse data from inspections, lab tests, and production feedback to identify trends and areas for improvementLead quality training and awareness for production and support staffEnsure calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipmentCollaborate with cross-functional teams on new product trials, validations, and continuous improvement projectsProviding technical support to the Technical Manager where requiredTo assist the Operations Manager in reducing quality failuresLiaising with material suppliers when faulty materials are supplied and arranging reports to support any credit claimsActively involved in maintaining and improving process controls that safeguard product qualityParticipating in investigations with support from the operations and technical teams on production machinery & processes where requiredRaising of appropriate corrective actions and overseeing that the actions are completedKeeping up to date with regulatory technical issues that may impact activities and informing/training othersProviding the Managing Director with monthly activity reportQuality Assurance Manager Person Specification:Worked within a similar Quality Management positionProven track record in making significant quality improvementsImplementation and management of quality management systemsDegree in a scientific or technical field (Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering) - desirableISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification (or equivalent) - desirableTraining in root cause analysis tools (8D, FMEA, 5 Whys) - desirableComputer literacy and ability to use excel/software packages to analyse dataManaging projects to adhere to timeframes and budgetary controlsUnderstanding of ERP systemsFlexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities and changeGood report writing and presentation skillsQuality Assurance Manager Benefits / Working Hours:Pension scheme 5% company contribution if employee puts in 3% and then 7% company contribution after 3 years' employmentPrivate medical insuranceRewards gateway voucher schemeCompany bonus (discretionary and dependent on company performance)Excellent sick schemeFree car parking35 hours per weekCore hours 9.30am-5.30pm (1-hour lunch break)Flexibility available e.g. earlier start and finish timesJackie Kerr Recruitment is an independent agency that has been established for 28 years.We strive to provide the ultimate consultancy service to all our candidates.
