Job descriptionComplex SEN Outreach Tutor needed in Havering and surrounding areasABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYProspero Teaching is looking for an experienced and compassionate Complex SEN Outreach Tutor to deliver tailored 1:1 education programmes to children and young people unable to attend school due to a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in Havering and surrounding areas.This is a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated education professional who is confident in planning and delivering engaging, individualised lessons outside the traditional classroom environment. Your role will be to help pupils build confidence, make academic progress, and reintegrate into structured learning.Many of the young people you’ll support will have complex SEN. Due to the nature of these needs, patience, creativity, and trauma-informed practice are essential. These pupils may have experienced disrupted education, so your ability to re-engage them through personalised teaching is key.Prospero Teaching offers ongoing support, regular progress reviews, and access to training to ensure you can provide the most effective education for each learner.CONTRACT / POSITION DETAILS
  • Location – Havering and nearby boroughs
  • Position – Complex SEN Outreach Tutor
  • Type of work – Individualised tuition (1:1)
  • Start date – ASAP
  • Duration – Ongoing (based on pupil needs)
  • Contract type – Temporary (long-term placements available)
  • Full time/part time – Flexible (based on your availability)
  • Pay rate – Starting from £25 per hour (higher rates for complex needs)
  • Hours – Sessions range from 1 to 3 hours per day, per student
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, PGCE or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 months’ experience working in UK education settings
  • Proven experience working with complex SEN needs is essential
  • Trauma-informed or therapeutic teaching experience highly desirable
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training (desirable – can be provided)
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS certificate (Child Workforce) on the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new one
  • Be able to provide two professional references from the last two years, ideally covering experience with SEN students
