
Tutor in Modern Languages (German) 0.3 FTE

- To teach at undergraduate levels.
- To undertake marking of undergraduate assessments and preparation of associated material including preparing marks for examination boards.
- To provide academic support to undergraduate students.
- To work collaboratively with the wider teaching team and Head of Department for the administration of programmes in Modern Languages.
- Plan, prepare and deliver teaching and assessment, responding effectively to a variety of student backgrounds, learning styles and class sizes.
- Motivate students to engage actively in learning, and provide meaningful and constructive feedback on the quality of their work;
- Keep abreast of new professional, educational and related social, economic and technological developments in delivery of German language curriculum. Specific duties include:
- Contribute to the administration of German Language elements of the BA Modern Languages programmes (e.g. managing assessment processes and liaising with External Examiners).
- Undertake other administrative duties and responsibilities as directed by the Head of School.

- A good undergraduate degree in a relevant subject area.
- Masters qualification in a relevant subject area.
- PhD (or close to completion), in a relevant subject area. Teaching qualification or HEA membership.
- Effective teaching capability in Modern Languages or cognate subject areas.
- Successful experience of supporting undergraduate students to develop their learning at appropriate levels.
- Demonstrate knowledge and interest in specific areas related to the post.
- Experience of small group teaching and language teaching.
- Experience of module development and delivery in higher education.
- A fluent German speaker with excellent language skills.
- Ability to deliver exciting, inclusive approaches to teaching.
- Ability to prioritise work load and work to deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Demonstrable IT Skills as required (e.g. VLE and other forms of learning technologies).
