The role supports the Berkshire Emergency Duty Service, addressing welfare and safety concerns outside regular office hours across all six unitary authorities of Berkshire, including an out-of-hours Appropriate Adult Service for individuals in police custody. What you will do:
  • Act as the primary contact during emergencies, providing critical social work support.
  • Deliver the out-of-hours Appropriate Adult Service, ensuring the welfare of children, young people, and adults in police custody.
  • Conduct mental health assessments to determine the necessity of detention under the Mental Health Act.
  • Collaborate with police, health services, and other relevant professionals to ensure coordinated and effective responses.
  • Maintain detailed records of all interventions and outcomes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with guidelines.
