As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the finance function across sales ledger, purchase ledger, and general ledger activities. You will ensure the accuracy of financial data, maintain organised records, and contribute to the smooth running of month-end processes.Key Responsibilities
Sales Ledger:Preparation and validation of distributor invoicesProcessing bank transfers and payment allocationsWeekly Aged Debtors reporting and chasing overdue accountsCalculating commissions and liaising with external contactsReconciliation of distributor accountsOwnership of day-to-day and month-end AR processesPurchase Ledger:Checking purchase orders for correct GL codesMatching invoices against receiptsEntering and validating supplier invoicesProcessing fixed assets and maintaining the asset registerBACS and cheque payments, foreign currency transfers, and contrasSupplier account reconciliationsGeneral Ledger:Journal postingsMonthly review and reconciliation of account balances to the trial balanceVariance analysis, accruals, and prepaymentsOther Duties:VAT submissionsHandling ad hoc queriesGeneral administration tasksSkills & Experience RequiredMinimum AAT Level 2 (or equivalent qualification in finance/accountancy)At least 2 years' experience in a similar accounting roleGood standard of education, including GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) in Maths and EnglishStrong knowledge of Microsoft Excel; Oracle E-Business Suite experience advantageousExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to prioritise workload, work under pressure, and meet deadlinesWhat's on OfferOpportunity to work with a respected household brandSupportive and collaborative team environmentCompetitive salary and benefits packageProfessional development opportunitiesIf you meet the above criteria and are ready to take the next step in your finance career, we would be delighted to hear from you.
