We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.Post: Senior Charge Nurse Band 7, 37 hours, worked Monday to Friday. This post is for ward 4C at the QEUH.Ward 4C is a 15 bedded kidney transplant and renal surgical ward and is home to the West of Scotland Kidney Transplant Unit. The unit runs a very busy live donor transplant programme and also receives kidney offers from NHS ODT. Alongside kidney transplantation the ward also holds the reputation as a centre of excellence for renal dialysis vascular access creation, therefore providing care to a specialised renal patient group.The inpatient ward forms part of the larger regional renal services, which consist of 6 outpatient haemodialysis units, a community home therapies unit and the main inpatient hub at the QEUH, consisting of 65 inpatient beds (including ward 4c) and the renal assessment unit.Essential requirements of the post:
  • 5 years post registration
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Expert nursing knowledge
  • Expert knowledge organ donation and transplantation
  • Ability to manage the competing demands of the Senior Charge Nurse role
The SCN will is required to work closely with the lead nurse, chief nurses and all members of the multi-disciplinary and senior management team within renal services. This is a key post in delivering our nursing strategies and ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and efficient person centred care. You will be responsible to the Lead Nurse for clinical guidance and professional management. As Senior Charge Nurse you will have 24/7 responsibility for the management and delivery of care assurance standards within their area.
