If so, GSL Education are currently looking to appoint an exceptional Sports Teaching Assistant to join a Client Secondary Schools in York, North Yorkshire.Sports Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Enhance the skills and abilities of individual athletes or the team as a whole.
- Support teachers in delivering engaging and interactive PE lessons.
- Assist in organizing and supervising a range of sports activities both in and outside the classroom.
- Provide 1:1 or small group support to students to help them improve their skills
- Help manage and supervise students during physical activities.
- Support the planning and preparation of teaching materials and sports resources.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment, encouraging students to engage in physical activity.
- Relevant qualifications in sport (e.g. Level 2 or 3 in Sports Coaching, PE, or similar) would be advantageous but not essential.
- Experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational or sports setting.
- Knowledge of basic sports injury prevention, management, and rehabilitation techniques is crucial.
- A proactive, adaptable approach with a willingness to assist across different areas of the school’s PE department.
- Hold an enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply a for a new one through GSL Education.
- A strong understanding of the rules, strategies, and techniques of specific sport is essential.
