
Specialist Paediatric Dietitian

- To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team providing high quality, evidence based dietetic service to a complex case load of patients on the paediatrics and neonatal unit
- As one of the paediatric Dietitians, working closely with the Paediatric Dietetic Team Lead and Nutrition and Dietetic Service Manager to plan, provide and evaluate the paediatric dietetic service.
- To support the clinical and professional development of junior Dietitians, Dietetic support worker and student dietitians.
- To work as part of the paediatric multidisciplinary team training other healthcare professionals and contributing to the development of the service
- HCPC registered
- BSc Dietetics or equivalent.
- Advanced communication skills
- leadership or management training
- Degree or post-grad equivalent in Dietetics
- Evidence of CPD
- post-grad masters module in paediatric dietetics or equivalent experience
- Ability to demonstrate sound and in depth knowledge and application of up to date evidence based, nutritional screening and support
- Ability to plan and manage time effectively.
- Ability to generate written communication which is relevant, concise, accurate and legible
- Evidence of excellent verbal communication skills at all levels
- Able to deal with distressed, difficult or abusive clients.
- Able to respond to unpredictable work patterns and interruptions
- Ability to complete allocated projects and meet deadlines
- Competent user of IT equipment & basic software (email, word processing, data input etc)
- Experience of Dietetic assessment and care planning in paediatrics
- Experience of working in a community setting
- Student training experience
- Ability to plan and deliver education to patient groups
- Advanced communication skills
- Specialist group member of the BDA
- Experience of writing/updating patient resources
- Experience of working with children with eating disorders
- Experience of working with neonatal TPN
- Experience of complex paediatric nutritional assessment and care planning
- Experience of working with families and the wider MDT including social care and safeguarding team
- Experience of EF discharge planning and coordination
- Neonatal paediatric dietetic experience
- Working knowledge of commonly used feeding systems
- Awareness of regulatory bodies (HCPC) and professional bodies (BDA) code of practice and professional guidelines
- Commitment to engage in CPD and dept appraisal system
- Competent user of IT equipment and basic software (email, RIO)
- Knowledge and understanding of clinical governance and evidence based practice.
- Ability to plan and deliver training sessions to health care professionals
- To be able to communicate clearly and concisely to both staff and patients
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- Ability to prioritise and manage own caseload and time
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Demonstrates initiative and the ability to develop professionally
- Must have the ability to travel to other sites and specialist schools in Buckinghamshire .
