To assist and support the Strategic Lead Museums in documenting and caring for the y Gaer collection, provision of displays and exhibitions, and outreach and engagement activities. To work collaboratively with colleagues across Cultural Services and to participate in providing an integrated approach to service improvements and developments.About you:
  • Experience of working in a museum or gallery
  • Experience of collections care and management
  • Commitment to high standards
  • Able to communicate effectively and confidently with people
  • Experience of using ICT and confidence in adapting to changing technologies at work
What you will do:
  • To undertake all duties required for the day-to-day operation of y Gaer, including counter duties. To answer general enquiries in person and in writing, and provide information and guidance to customers
  • To assist with the preparation, installation and publicity of displays as part of y Gaer’s temporary exhibition programme and permanent galleries at y Gaer.
  • To help promote the use of y Gaer and its collections through an understanding of the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion. To help co-ordinate outreach activities, including digital services, which increase awareness, understanding and engagement. To further develop the presence and interpretation of the y Gaer collection online.
  • To assist with the delivery of the collection management programme, including care of collections, storage improvements and repackaging of museum items, as directed by the Strategic Lead Museums.
  • To assist with the accurate documentation and cataloguing of the museum’s collections, following approved museum procedures in order to facilitate access and research.
