- Demonstrate and develop clinical assessment skills and the ability to prioritise the care for patients undergoing a Surgical / Anaesthetic procedure.
- Actively supports patients and their families, communicating clinical information using a variety of methods, to ensure effective understanding.
- Contribute to the continuing development of patient care within the operating theatres, e.g. through sharing knowledge and expertise as required.
- Prepare and organise clinical area to receive patients for elective and emergency.
- To safely identify, prepare, check and assemble equipment required for the relevant operating list.
- Responsible for adhering to the NMC / HCPC professional Code of Conduct.

- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (Level 1) or qualified Operating Department Practitioner with HPC registration or Anaesthetic Nurse (ENB 182/183 or equivalent)
- Teaching qualification
- 3 years' experience in Maternity Theatres OR 3 years' experience in Gynae/GI/Vascular or Urology Theatres
- Practice assessor / mentor experience
- Willingness to train as a mentor
- Demonstrate awareness of current issues in Maternity Services within the NHS
- Demonstrate awareness of theatre specialty, and/or specific needs of patients undergoing surgical procedures.
- Demonstrates awareness of evidence based practice within a Theatre environment
- Demonstrates understanding of Health and Safety / COSHH
- Demonstrates a professional approach to patient care.
- Capable of lateral thinking
- Ability to work autonomously and as a member of the MDT
- Demonstrate use of good written, communication and listening skills across all settings.
- Demonstrate attributes of a team player and can contribute towards a positive learning environment with a willingness to undertake further training as necessary.
