Join us and contribute to making a positive impact on our community.The RoleWe are seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our Adult Locality South team. This is a well-established and supportive Adult Social Care Team based at Town Hall, Weston- super- Mare with hybrid working. The team covers Weston, Worle areas and surrounding villages.In this role, you will; work within key legislative frameworks including the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Mental Health Act 1983, you will make defensible decisions in partnership with people with care and support needs, supporting them to take positive risks in order to promote and balance their independence, safety and wellbeing.As a Social Worker you will be undertaking Care Act Assessments, and co-producing care and support plans with individuals, identifying their strengths and assets to determine person-centred outcomes. You will undertake Mental Capacity Assessments and be involved in Best Interest Decision making. You will hold a manageable caseload and will have shared responsibility for coordinating safeguarding enquiries in a person-centred way.You will use your social work knowledge, skills and values to promote the rights and choices of people with care and support needs.You will work in close partnership with people with care and support needs, their families, carers and a range of multi-agency partners to achieve desired and eligible outcomes.This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.Work StyleAt North Somerset Council, we offer a hybrid working environment based on four distinct work styles. Depending on the role and personal circumstances, you will fall into one of these categories. However, please note that during the induction period, it may be necessary to spend more time in the office to support your learning and development. We are flexible and open to discussions about your preferred working style, and if you wish to be in the office more frequently, this can be negotiated.This role falls into the category of Flexible Worker which means you can expect to work in the following way:
  • Fixed Worker
  • 4+ days in the office
  • Spends most or all of their time in the office, due to nature of the work but can be for reasons such as unsuitable home working conditions or a desire for separation of home and work life.
  • The office remains a shared space with cultural encouragement for clear desk policies.
  • Flexible Worker
  • 2-3 days in the office
  • Works both from home and the office, depending on the task at hand.
  • Training is provided to help balance work-life and manage time effectively, with an emphasis on communication for team touchpoints and planning in-office days for collaboration.
  • Mobile/Field Worker
  • 0-1 day in the office
  • Includes field workers who primarily work remotely.
  • Comes into the office for meetings or focused work. Virtual connections with the team are essential, with portable technology supporting work on the go.
