Purchase Ledger Assistant - Maternity CoverJob Type: Fixed Term, 9-12 Months
Hours: 24 hours per week, worked over 3 consecutive days
Location: Longtown, Carlisle
Hybrid Working: One day per week after training period
Salary: Competitive with monthly bonus schemeNXT Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a well-established company who are looking for a Purchase Ledger Assistant to join their finance team on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in purchase ledger or finance administration who enjoys working in a busy, detail-focused role.Responsibilities:
  • Process a high volume of invoices accurately and efficiently
  • Ensure all purchases are recorded, authorised, and accounted for
  • Manage supplier accounts by clearing invoices, resolving queries, and maximising monthly discounts
  • Control inter-company accounts and debit notes
  • Record overhead costs and account for VAT
  • Support the wider finance team with ad-hoc tasks as required
Skills:
  • Previous experience in purchase ledger or a similar finance role
  • Confident, proactive, and highly organised approach
  • Strong knowledge of Excel spreadsheets
  • Professional and clear telephone manner when dealing with suppliers and colleagues
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all communications and records
  • Team player with good communication skills
  • Experience with SAP Business One would be an advantage but not essential
