Working as part of the Model Risk Management our ideal team member will have previous experience in offering constructive, independent technical checks and challenging at committee level with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with experience of tailoring communication for different audiences.RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the implementation of the Group's target state operating model for a 2nd Line Model Validation function
  • Structure the current state of validation, assurance and approval status of models.
  • To provide expert support and guidance to all stakeholders on model development and validation activities, to help ensure the group model risk operating model is consistently adopted in processes and procedures, and to help model owners, users and developers understand minimum standards, make use of templates, etc.
  • Research statistical techniques to estimate model parameters, including volatilities of risk factors and their correlations, and to validate use of appropriate proxies and fall-back parameters
  • Benchmark particular model components such as parameter estimation methods or pricing models to justify against alternative approaches
  • Review and provide guidance on existing and to-be developed model documentation
  • Ensure that all Governance and Compliance requirements are adhered to and all reporting and reviewing activities required by the Regulatory Bodies are carried out to the standards required

You will encourage your team to take responsibility for their own personal development and provide support through regular feedback.WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE/ARE:
  • Significant experience in the validation or development of credit risk models in Banking.
  • Significant knowledge of modern risk management techniques within Banking, and in the use of risk models within such an environment.
  • Experienced in the extraction and manipulation of data to support risk model development, e.g. defining observation periods, outcome periods, choosing a suitable "bad" definition, for scorecard models, and equivalent experience for other modelling approaches.
  • Experienced and competent in the use of modelling software tools (e.g. SAS, Python, R, Matlab) for developing all types of predictive model suites, including on large datasets or time series of data.
  • A natural ability with numbers, with the ability to work quickly and at a high level of detail and accuracy, and a highly analytical approach to problem solving.

  • Industry certifications (e.g. FRM, CFA, SAS).
