Now is an exciting time to join our team as we embark on this transformative journey towards a greener future.About the roleAs an Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for the successful and timely undertaking of planned and reactive maintenance including all mandatory and statutory requirements, and timely and high-quality response to faults and breakdowns to ensure all plant, equipment and systems are in full working order to meet business needs.Key responsibilities:To effectively use initiative and technical ability to provide a standard of work and productivity consistent with good customer serviceUndertake planned maintenance, breakdown repair and condition monitoring activities of plant and equipmentObtain a thorough working knowledge of plant equipment in order to effectively repair and maintain to minimise downtimeReport to engineering supervisors on status of machine breakdownsTo report any damage or misuse of plant equipment to engineering or operational supervisionRespond with written reports and provide signatures to statutory examinations or any other information as requiredWhen required undertake ancillary tasks including fuelling, lubrication, cleaning or steam cleaning or any other task required in order to ensure the progress of work is not hinderedTo act with due regard in the interests of safety and reliability in all aspects of maintenance and repairMust act on instructions both written and verbal, including radio communication from engineering or operational supervisorTo be capable of driving vehicles and cargo handling equipment and accept training from a nominated person appointed by the PortTo be flexible between workshops and work areasTo be capable of working at heights on board vessels or any other place as directedShow due regard for the Port's property and the safety of yourself and other Port employeesAdhere to all Port regulations and working arrangements and comply with any relevant legislation in forceResponsible for ensuring that a clean, tidy and hazard free working environment is maintained to defined standards with a clear knowledge of those standards for DSEAR and Food SafetyWhat we're looking for:We are seeking a skilled maintenance professional with at least 2-3 years of hands-on experience in maintaining industrial fixed plant and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess a relevant qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering at HNC/D or NVQ 2/3 level, with strong expertise in electrical and mechanical systems, PLCs and automation, hydraulics, and pneumatics.Qualifications and Skills:Electrical or Mechanical Engineering qualification - ideally NVQ level 3 or above with sufficient experienceStrong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, PLC's and Automation, hydraulics and pneumaticsExperience of DSEAR and ATEX regulations. preference given to COMPEX EX05 and EX06 qualifications but not essential as training can be givenProven knowledge of continuous fault-finding techniques, especially in industrial fixed plant and equipment environmentsElectrical and mechanical fault-finding experienceHeavy plant and mobile platform experienceIT skills in Word, ExcelKnowledge of Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality RegulationsFull UK driving licenceFull right to work in the UKPlease note that all offers will be subject to passing a Pre-Employment Medical, which includes a respiratory test.What Forth Ports can offer you:At Forth Ports, our people are our priority, and we are committed to creating a flexible, open, and supportive working culture.   • HNC/D or NVQ 2/3 level in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering qualification or similar

  • Full UK driving licence
